M-E-E: Modify Eating & Exercise

Ah, a new acronym for me:

“It’s All About M-E-E” – Modify Eating & Exercise

So I have a couple of ongoing issues with my health which I’ve used as an excuse to not exercise nor track my intake, but this last week, thanks to a BUNCH of posts that made it to my FB feed due to discussions with friends, I found ways to modify my routine. I have always contended that SOME exercise is better than NO exercise, so I’ve been looking into ways to work around my condition.

Can’t exercise?

Ah, I figure I can exercise by sitting on a chair instead of bouncing around my family room. I can use bottles of water for weights, the tile floor in front of me for leg step work, and the walls for modified push ups. I can lean over and touch only my knees will get a few of my back muscles stretched without tipping me over. None of the mods can have me looking up or looking to the right – so modify, modify, modify.

These simple mods will help keep me mobile, and I should be able to jump back into a regular routine if the docs ever figure out what is causing my lack of mobility. I cannot go for walks outside, but I can walk from room to room by holding onto the walls.

Can’t Eat Healthy?

Lately when I’ve had moments of being at least 60% of my old self, I’ve been prepping ready-to-eat meals for the freezer so I have healthy dishes that do not require me to be upright in the kitchen during those random down times I am experiencing. This will keep me from heading to the kitchen in search of ‘quick to grab’, instant snacks (translate, unhealthy choices) when I’m unwell or bored or having a pity party at my current lack of ability.

I am determined to beat this thing, even if it’s just for M-E-E!
