More on Geese Families

I’ve written about the geese families, this week I experienced it first hand.

Last week I visited extended family and took my daughter and my two grandsons with me. The road trip up and back was uneventful – no drama, which, looking back on the drive itself is a bit noteworthy, but I’ll save that last little bit for another day.

The family we visited all had their own agendas and did their own thing, but all came together at random points to connect – through meals, chores, or common interests.

On the surface, this seems chaotic to me, but the ebb and flow of this family is dynamic and all have their strong points and moments. Most times the noise was deafening; it seemed like the only volume most everyone had or knew was at a decibel loud enough to hurt my ears, and even an escape to a bathroom was not truly an escape because of questions through the door.

I like things quiet, and I was sure in the wrong place for this. It was a bit overwhelming. Who am I kidding? It was completely overwhelming! She who doesn’t even play background noise when she’s creating! To spend a day at a home where there is noise at every turn, whew! I was supposed to stay two weeks, but thankfully my daughter had an appointment that could not be rescheduled and we came home after three days. I dropped her and my littles off at their house and it seems all I’ve done since I’ve been back is listen to the quiet here.

And of course write about it.
