I’m losing momentum.
I get up each morning with the best intentions – I’m going to clean something, get rid of something, exercise, eat healthy, pay bills.
And then I lose momentum at the list I’ve just created. I merely glance at the list and know that once again I’ve bitten off more than I can chew. Do I seriously set myself up for failure every morning before with that first cup of coffee?
Well this morning I’ve determined I do not like math and specifically long division.
Follow me, this is how I think.
Each day I write down tasks with goals in mind.
I of course, write down more than might be accomplished within a day’s timeframe, so a few spill over into the next day. So the next day, I set up a few more tasks, but I still have the carryover (and guilt) from the day before.
So like long division, this can go on until at some point I will check off the completed tasks and have, say, six left over from the days before.
My week’s task list “answer” will look like 45, r. 6 – like long division.
Yesterday’s list had a remainder of two, so this week I have a total remainder of four. On the surface it looks like I’ve gotten a lot done (the forty-five), but I still have the remainder of six, so in order to not have guilt this morning, the leftover of six I have not accomplished will be the only ones I’ll set for myself today.
Perhaps I might embrace long division after all.
Perhaps not.
