How Do I Manage Stress?

The short of it; I don’t. Well, not very well, I’m afraid.

Ever hear the expression, “Let Go, Let God”? Well, that’s not me, for certain. I’d like to say I’ve gotten better over the years, but that would be a lie. First, I spiral. I can go from zero to sixty in less time than it takes to write this sentence.

For example:

Let any of my appliances make an unfamilar noise and I’ll see floating dollar signs before I explore the exact reason for the sounds.

Did a random dash light come on in my car? Now I’m reworking my whole budget.

Oh, and my latest? My heart issue. Wow, let’s not even revisit my stress level about THAT!

So, how do I manage stress? First I run the gambit of every possible scenario, the good, the bad, the ugly, then I take a deep breath before beginning actual research into the issue or problem.

And then comes prayer.

Yeah, I just realized what I just wrote. Only after I’ve gone down the rabbit hole do I finally seek the One that can bring me down from the limb of the tree I’ve climbed, before the branch actually breaks.

Thinking that my morning meditation must (not ‘should’) start with that last part rather than the first; it would eliminate so much of the self-imposed stress I put myself through!

*back to the coffeepot for a break and a little inspiration*
