Dream Interpretation; What’s Really Going On

Okay, who all believes that dreams may have a deeper meaning to give insight to the dreamer?

*raising my hand*

Having said that, I do not believe that events or people or items that one dreams about have the same meaning to all who dream, nor that all dreams come from the One above.

The internet is full of blogs about dreams and what the events are supposed to mean, but like a horoscope that has only twelve zodiac signs, the same dream events simply cannot apply to everyone across the board.

So how can you interpret your own dreams?

Here’s a simple way for you to discern what’s going on in yours:

When you wake up, write down every little detail you can remember. If you’re running from something, what is it? Describe “It” and how you feel – terror? Like you can’t breathe? Where are you running from? Where are you going? Who is with you? Do you dream in color? Write down the colors, the clothing, the surroundings. Is it day or night? Are the windows open? Broken? All details matter. Is it on repeat?

There are a couple of tips that I’ve discovered work for my dreams.

One is that when I’m dreaming about a house (what I’m doing in there, what I’m seeing in each room, the lighting, windows, decor, etc.), the house represents my life, more specifically, the areas of my life. So if I’m dreaming about a broken window in one of the rooms, it means (to me) that I don’t feel safe there; something from the outside can get in. An open window can represent a form of escape or letting fresh air into a stale, stagnant area of my life. So if dreaming about a house, write down all details, even the small ones.

Dreaming about something big and scary (a bear)? I had one of those. A big black bear that kept getting too close but then went away. That one was when I was going through a possible cancer scare. Divine insight told me that what I was fearing would not harm me, but that it would go away without drama.

You have the ability to interpret your own dreams. Keep a notebook by your bedside if you can, and remember to write down every little detail. Your mind will help you work out the details of what you’re struggling with in your awake, conscious world.

Lastly, God will speak through dreams, but you have to remember that a dream will not contradict God or the Bible. You may find peace through dreams from Him. I’ve gotten to see several of my deceased relatives through those dreams, which I felt were sent to help me heal from the loss of each.

I’m rambling now, but if you’re interested, send me a message; I’d love to hear how you are working through your own dreams.

Out for now, Make it Great!
