Can One Be Both An Analytical and Creative Writer?

I like to think of myself as an analytical person who is able to logically get myself out of a box. I’m also creative and could write a story about the box I got myself out of, using oh, I dunno, dragons, a spirit guide, or a wandering puppy.

So this morning I’m wondering if stories I write could be extremely fantasy-related, or would they have to be logical, well-thought-out, highly scrutinized pieces? Have I been keeping the descriptions minimal and getting to just the details (logic-based, dontcha know), or should my dragon colors need to be more vibrant? Would sweat be pouring off my cowboy, or would mud be caked all over one of my ducks who was playing in the large puddle in my driveway?

I will keep this in mind as I work on one of my stories today. I think some editing might be in order, and yes, I seem to be doubting my ability, so more coffee to process THAT thought…
