“…Life’s Ups and Downs…”

“…I’ve had my share, of life’s ups and downs…”

This is one of those song lyrics that touches me ALL THE TIME, and usually I’ll sing the rest of that line – “…but Fate’s been kind, the downs have been few…” For those not familiar with it, the song is “You’re the Best Thing That Ever Happened To Me” (Side note: thank you, Jim D. Weatherly for the song, and Gladys Knight and the Pips for putting it in my head for all these years. Her version is the one I remember).

My mind is wandering a bit as the caffeine begins to kick in, and I’m thinking that this love song could have very well been a Christian song for me, she who accepted Christ as her Savior about the year this song came out.

But I digress.

Today’s meandering comes from a convo I had with my older brother yesterday morning. We had been reminiscing about our favorite ‘growing up’ memories, some of which only he remembered and some of which only I did, which ultimately centered around the thought that if either of us had done anything differently that many years ago, we would not be right where we are today.

So this morning, even as I struggle with physical balance, I am counting my many blessings, all of which brought me to this place, here and now, for which I am grateful.

“…the downs have been few…”

So, question of the day:

Is there a song lyric that motivates, moves, or inspires you?
