‘Praying’ Attention

I was perusing others’ blogs in search of some writing inspiration, and came across one that spoke of ‘paying attention.’ Well, as it often happens with me, I read it wrong and read it as ‘praying attention’. Ha! Isn’t that ironic?!

That idea stuck with me, so here I am, coffee in hand, writing about this bit of wisdom.

So often my prayers will be ones of thanks and for specifics (the people on my list or my own issues), and I get so caught up with my drama that I’m not ‘praying attention’, meaning, I’m not listening to Him when He’s providing guidance or answers.

Ever have that happen? Be in the middle of prayer and receive Divine intervention and the answers you seek? Do you ‘pray’ attention and truly listen? I find that sometimes I’m on such a roll in that moment, so caught up in the drama, that I’m not actually listening to Him and the peace He gives as I work through my own agenda and vent my hurt or anger. I totally miss the point of connecting with God, and I miss the opportunity to ‘hear’ His response, or embrace His peace.

Praying Attention. Something to contemplate as I head into my day.
