You know the sound. Sorry if that makes you dump out your morning coffee and put away the cup, but I needed to write about this particular topic this morning.
You see, my puppy ate parts of one of his fluffy toys yesterday morning and then came to over to me and started making THAT NOISE. Years of sick children and grandchildren has taught me that I have but mere seconds to get him in a ‘safe for vomiting’ place, and amid some vertigo I was experiencing, I leapt up, grabbed his collar, and literally ran him out the back door!
Hubbin thought he was hiccupping; couldn’t understand my urgency.
Hubbin has never been around such sounds.
For people in the ‘know’, that wretching noise can reach anyone from anywhere in the house, or can even awaken someone from a dead-to-the-world, two a.m. sleep!
And here’s something I’ve discovered over the years – that particular sound does not have to come from a human – that noise sounds the same in any language, whether it’s human, dog, cat, or whatever.
It’s universal!
