As I take sips from my first cup today, I am reminded that it is Monday.
Monday’s agenda usually sets the tone for the rest of the week for me. It is a fresh start on whatever might be on my to-do list and I have all the best intentions of checking at least a few things off before breakfast. Bible meditation? Check. Update finances? Check. Review status on my reselling platform? Check. Write Chapter Five in my Western (no check mark yet…)?
See, that’s three things, but it doesn’t end there, but so many things can jump into my path that sometimes it can be very difficult for me to stay on track. Literally.
An example: I’ll head to the coffee pot to pour a second cup, but on the way, I’ll see the spot in the carpet that needs to be cleaned. This will take some research because that spot keeps coming back, and has FOR YEARS! I think there was something spilt there that will require carpet replacement but, in the meantime, I’m using whatever methods YouTube can come up with. So off I’ll go, down the carpet cleaning methods rabbit hole, and before I know it, I’ll have wasted half the morning watching baby goat videos or some other such trivia. Monday’s agenda will be scrapped, and I’ll spend the rest of my week, trying to catch up.
I try not to back myself into a corner so that things I want to get done don’t become “Have To’s” and Mondays are the perfect start over days for this, and I’ve created a task list with deadlines in a handy dandy binder for this purpose.
So I’ll be out for now, trying to reclaim my life and check off a few more things, and perhaps a couple from last week’s endeavors as well.
No baby goats for me today.
