I am helping friends with their estate sale this weekend, which will be today and tomorrow, with the final day being Sunday.
Today was the first day, which history has shown to be totally crazy. People came in waves; we did well on this “perfect-weather-for-a-sale” Friday. We were all dragging by 3 p.m. and all were happy to be able to lock the doors after the last customer left. I found out that by moving things around periodically, things sold better than in the original places we had displayed them.
And now I’m fast forwarding to today, which is Sunday. The estate house had cats; guess what I’m allergic to? I’m suffering today and the meds aren’t cutting it. Yes, I spent two days at a ‘cat’ house *laughing at my choice of words!*
That being said, the host of the sale didn’t need my assistance the final day, so I got to stay home and recoup. I did find some great deals myself – I spent $95 there but I think I can make some money on what I bought.
Do you ever see something and just “know” it’s worth much more than it’s priced?
I found several items like that Friday and yesterday and though I didn’t know their values, I did a quick search and discovered they were hidden treasures. I found a vase that should net about $500, a book for a dollar that lists and sells for about $30, and a set of paperbacks that recently sold for over $150.
Anyway, this afternoon is about doing our taxes and a friend’s – I’ve been putting those off for as long as I could. Today’s the day.
Until later, make it a happy soon-to-be-tax day.
Good luck!
