I have been decluttering multiple areas of my corner of the world and yesterday I sighed heavily then opened the packages that contained most of my jewelry. I hadn’t unpacked any of it since moving to Duncan and I discovered there was a good reason why I’d put it off. I thought I’d packed everything carefully but found several LARGE blobs of necklaces and bracelets and watches in spaghetti bowl condition.
“So, let’s stress on that for a brief minute,” I thought as I poured the piles onto a flat surface and began.
Hours later I had quite a bit of order restored to the piles, but not without some mental drama. I discovered that I had a story for just about every piece of jewelry I had in my possession! My trips to Belize, Cancun, San Francisco, Maui, L.A., Virginia City. Some from Carson City and Reno, and a few pieces I got in Oregon. There were a few special pieces from my late brother and sister. Pieces from old flames. All took me down Memory Lane, so what should have been an hour or so’s undertaking took me most of the day as I reminisced and got a bit tearful.
The funny thing is, none of these pieces will matter at all to anyone that I might hand them off to; there is no significance or memory attached to this jewelry to anyone else but me. So I took pictures and might post my favs to my photo section here and put some of the funny stories that I have associated with them, but today I’ll finish up and list them on auction on my eBay page.
Time to let go of the past, one piece at a time.
