Another Summer Storm

This morning I am out on my patio amid a Summer Storm that carries a “Severe Thunderstorm Warning” from the National Weather Service. “Seek Shelter” they say, so here I am, sheltered and watching God do what God does. And it is truly impressive! The lightning show far surpasses any fireworks, and the rolling thunder sounds like big trucks lumbering past my home. And just when I think it’s dying down, a HUGE flash of light and the immediate boom makes me jump. This morning it got so dark before the storm hit that my solar yard lights came back on. The wind that came with this brief respite to the heat we have been experiencing is wild; my bushes are swaying both left and right and the rain is coming down in swirling sheets. I take short videos with my phone at times like these, to capture those intense moments to share with my friends and family from afar. Some have never experienced such storms and they tell me the videos look almost fake, like movie scenes. I have to agree as I feel the noise from the thunder in the vibration of the ground under me.

And now it’s almost over. An occasional flash of light tells me it’s not quite, but the rain has calmed down and the wind is gone. The bushes and trees are still intact from this latest onslaught and I’m sure they are thankful for it to be over and thankful for the watering they just received from above.
