For some reason, that song came to mind today, and as I looked up the lyrics, I also contemplated what that statement meant to me. The song (in part) goes, "I want a Sunday kind of love, a love to last, past Saturday night..." Today as Hubbin and I go through the motions of carrying... Continue Reading →
Things I Love
My first morning coffee, the way Hubbin looks at and laughs with me, phone calls from my kids and my friends, my Grands, honeysuckle, orange roses, babies, my Can-Am, pizza, sunshine, snow, paid bills, hot showers, warm rains, thunderstorms, fluffy down comforters, people watching, a clean house, freshly mown lawns, clean sheets, a child's hug, hearing... Two Weeks to Go
It's a reflective evening for me tonight, as are most evenings this time of year. Chores are done; my agenda is ready for me to leap into tomorrow morning. There's nothing left to get into tonight that won't take more time than I want to give it, so here I am, contemplating the upcoming holiday.... Continue Reading →
Life After Death
Hubbin and I had the discussion this morning about what each of us would do if the other passed away. There was the usual: funeral vs. cremation, life insurance, trust funds, what to do with left behind belongings, etc. Well, he's heard me say (many times), "I don't know what I'd do without you." Well,... Continue Reading →
Handling Twice the Stress
I don't like to be blindsided. Well, that's the logic I have maintained most of my life, the 'what ifs' driving various scenarios in my imagination, from little things to big ones: "What if my child is part of the pile-up I heard about on the news?" "What if the noise coming from my dryer... Continue Reading →
Between Workout Days
Hubbin and I began a workout program about a month ago and we have been diligent about completing the routines six days a week. We do about twenty minutes of stretches on Mondays through Saturdays, cardio Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and Tuesdays, and Thursdays, and Saturdays are strength training days. Sundays we rest and recoup.... Continue Reading →
Finally, A Friday!
This week has been a wild one! I have been working on a new lifestyle change - one that gets me to a weight and fitness goal, and this past week has surely tested both my resolve and my limits! The biggest stressor of the week was Hubbin's cancer surgery. He was diagnosed with both... Continue Reading →
Another Late-Night Tornado Warning
Last night it began to rain, oh, sometime after 8 o'clock here in Duncan, Oklahoma, and when I say 'rain', I mean HARD, pounding the roof and windows, RAIN. I tuned into the local news channel to see what drama was due to head our way but was disappointed to see that they were only... Continue Reading →
Exercise Workouts with Hubbin
Recently Hubbin experienced a health crisis and because of this, we had to make some serious changes to his lifestyle and eating habits. This translated to changes in mine as well, since it does not make sense to me to fix him one type of food and a different one for me, or for me... Continue Reading →
Jalapeno Paste, My Happy Little Accident
I made a happy accident the other day. I tried to pressure-can sliced jalapenos in a spicy brine, but they turned out really mushy, which I discovered upon opening the jar. I didn't want to throw it away, so I drained the extra brine from the mushy jalapenos through a sieve (I'd recommend saving the... Continue Reading →
