Have a Great Day and Don’t Bite Anybody!

I am not sure what started that little exit remark, but I know the day it began.

A couple months ago, I was helping my daughter with her yard sale and as the last customer was leaving, out of the blue, I heard those words come out of my mouth.

“Have a great day and don’t bite anybody!”

The customer grinned and commented, “Can’t guarantee that!” and my six-year-old grandson went hysterical with laughter.

“Don’t bite anybody!” my little grandson would call out when he could talk again, which only served to restart his giggles, and every time a car would go by and not stop, he’d yell, “Have a great day and don’t bite anybody!”

It started a “thing” with us and now has become our words to each other after the final “I heart you’s’ and the “See you tomorrow’s.”

Perhaps it means nothing other than to make both my grandson and me smile, but it’s out into the universe now and perhaps its purpose is to remind people to be kind or maybe don’t be mean.

So, there’s that.

Have a great day, people, and don’t bite anybody!
