Someday I’ll Wash Away the Fingerprints

My Littles visited this past weekend and though I try to streamline cleanup and chaos, there is still the aftermath from each of their visits. There are water bottles, towels, sheets, pajamas, and of course, fingerprints on everything from their little hands (one time, one of my Littles even licked the sliding glass door to the patio). I look around at the evidence of their visits and get to restoring order, but somehow, I cannot bring myself to erase their fingerprints from the windows or the mirrors. I am reminded of just why the marks are there – “Grandma, I am so clean, Grandma, my hair is sticking up, Grandma, let’s eat dinner on the patio…” and I smile from the memories.

Someday, my Littles won’t be so little, and the little fingerprints will have faded, but for right now, anyone visiting will just have to look the other way if they don’t want to see the ‘handiwork’ of my grandsons.
