Saturdays are ‘weigh-in’ days for me, so this morning (before coffee), I jumped on the scale, cringing because it has been unmovable. Well today it reflected a loss of 2/10ths of a pound.
Instead of celebrating, I immediately thought, “Only 2/10ths???”
But then, on my way to pour my morning coffee, I remembered just how frustrated I was about the scale not moving (and even wrote about it) and decided this morning I will take the win.
I forget to ‘take the win’ so often and this morning, I am reflecting about what it is that makes me automatically want to discount my efforts.
If I try a new recipe and it is liked by everyone, I start thinking about what I could change about it next time instead of taking the win and saying, “Thank you!”
If I have written a story and it’s been published, I re-read it and think about what I could have done differently.
Take the Win!
If I sell something quickly on eBay, I wonder if I should have priced it differently.
Take the Win!
If I have cleared away clutter, checked off any item on my to-do list, gotten a room painted, created some art, paid some bills, or even stopped one of my littles from having a meltdown, “Take the Win!”
So the next time you feel as if you’re not as productive as you want to be or have not accomplished the goals you have set for yourself, remember you showed up for the game. Take the Win. There is one somewhere in there, even if it is just showing up. Start looking for those little ones.
You will get there and so will I.
Yay for 2/10ths!
