Unexpected Gifts

I have been the recipient of several unexpected gifts this week, and it’s not even my birthday!

The first came from my Bestie in Nevada, who sent me a set of the new, trending, semi-cured gel nail strips plus a UV light, via an Amazon package. I was skeptical at first that they were as claimed (she was too, when her sister sent her a similar package) but since I applied them, I have gardened, packed up boxes, cleaned, and all other manner of everyday chores and they are holding up great!

The second came in the form of a surprise lunch invite from my pastor’s wife. The pastor, his wife, and I went to Applebee’s and I enjoyed an easy-going lunch and I discovered more about these two lovely souls. I hope to get to know them better as time goes on. They are insightful and share the desire to touch people’s lives. I definitely have some takeaways from the couple hours we spent dining.

The third was totally a surprise; a new friend sent me a package from Alaska. She had read about my receipt of a LOT of rubber ducks from my Nevada Bestie and sent me a few more. I’m thinking they should be in the duck wars races I have in my back yard when it rains so much that my back yard floods (which, by all weather reporting, will be this evening). She also passed on some jewelry – pretty, mother-of-pearl earrings and a bracelet, as well as a Star Trek pin for Hubbin. Well, he claimed it anyway *grin* The funny part about this was that she had posted something on FB about how a friend should be receiving a box today and I had responded (of course, trying to be funny), “I’m a friend, I think.” Perhaps she’s still grinning at my remark, because I had no idea it was me she was referring to!

The last I just received – Hubbin brought me breakfast while I was typing this, so I’m out for the day to appreciate the little things that surprise, nourish, inspire, and delight me.

Make it great!
