Red Lights

I wrote this oh, perhaps fifteen years ago, back when I had a blog on someone else’s site. That site went defunct, and I thought I’d lost all my blogs, but I found a copy of some of them this morning, so here is one from that era…

I’m blessed with Red Lights.  It is God’s way of slowing me down and giving me time to talk to Him, and of course, it may be His way of teaching me patience as well.

So much happens at a red light.

I have time to look around, to experience a bit of other people’s days as well as mine, for I am a people watcher. Most times, I spot people on cell phones, multi-tasking I think, setting up meetings or perhaps a rendezvous. With whom, I wonder? Or they are impatient and late, revving their motors, cursing the fates that caused that amber orb to turn crimson.

Maybe they are like me, listening and perhaps singing slightly off-key to a favorite tune, watching me, watch them. So, to all of you that might spot me at your next red light, send me a smile, for I am certainly sending you one of mine.
