Tornados, Whirlwinds, and Yes, Let’s Add a Snake

We have been under so many weather watches in the past couple of weeks – the big four: hail, winds, rain, & tornados! Yesterday was supposed to be yet another, but it totally bypassed us to the north, hitting several Oklahoma towns with its share of drama.

I’ve had a different sort of whirlwind within my four walls during all this external drama, mostly in the name of two rambunctious grandsons who have more energy than I remember EVER having. My energy level plummets by the time their mother picks them up – I feel as if it’s all I can do to climb into bed and hit the sheets, but there’s so much to catch up on when there are no littles about, that it’s usually a couple of hours past my normal bedtime before I can hit my pillows. Therein lies my perpetual problem; up early, to bed late, repeat, and by the end of the week, I’m frazzled. Since I’m recognizing my limitations and the signs, I’m reorganizing my days and my week to accommodate the two little mini tornados when they are here for the day.

Ah, and as for the snake? Different sort of drama. This is (was) the first one I’ve seen in my yard since I moved here three years ago – I attacked it with a shovel that just happened to be handy, then had Hubbin remove it. I sent pictures of it to my friend who is my resident expert for such things, and she tells me it looked like a checkered garter snake (my photos were not the clearest). Having said that, I sort of feel bad that I chopped it up, but not so bad that I would have let it live in my yard. I’m hoping it didn’t have family here….

I won’t be having the littles here today, so it is an unexpected catch up day. There’s a lot to do but I’m thinking a nap is climbing to the top of my “To Do” list, so – Later!
