This morning I commented on a woman’s post that paid tribute to all the moms out there. I said, “Let’s not forget all the dads that are the “stand-in” moms today.” Her response surprised me; she said there was “Father’s Day” for that and that men got their own days. I guess I am of the mindset that parents who happen to be single parents should be celebrated on both days since they fulfill both roles.
Please understand, I don’t buy into the whole “men can be women and vice versa” thing, I just think that if a man is doing the parenting thing on his own without help, his efforts should be recognized on both days, just as I celebrate those moments on Father’s Day with the women who also fulfill both titles.
So I’ll continue to applaud efforts from both men and women today, who fill those enormous shoes that “Mom’s” have to fill.
Happy Mother’s Day, all!
