Turkey Day Eve

I’m in a reflective mood today as I reminisce about Thanksgivings’ past. Tomorrow it will be Hubbin and me preparing our dinner side-by-side, sharing the load and the meal. Our kids and the grands live far away, as do the friends we left behind in Nevada when we moved, so there will be no extra place settings to be put on the table at the last minute – our home is quiet, but it is a peaceful stillness. It doesn’t make me sad, just a bit nostalgic when I think about the noise level that a multitude of people can raise within the confines of a home’s space. I think the most I ever hosted was fifteen people, and I think there are those who are reading this and calling me an amateur. I am smiling about that even as I pour over tomorrow’s menu for just my Hubbin and me in my head while I’m typing this.

Wishing you and yours a peaceful and blessed holiday.
