All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth

No, I had no intention of bringing up the Spike Jones and His City Slickers song, nor anyone else who may have sang it since then.

Last night, I Face-Timed with the littles and my oldest Gambaby has lost his two front teeth. The 1948 song immediately came to mind. I wonder if others have told him about the song, because one of the first things he shared with me was that now he couldn’t whistle. Never mind that he has never been able to whistle, but now he has a good excuse. I’m smiling tonight as I remember just how he said it – – ‘whithle’.

And of course, the smallest little one chimed in and said, “Hi, Meemaw,” which is different than the, “Hi Gamma,” he used to say. I smile at him. He still says, “Hi Bee-Paw” to his grandfather, which has us cracking up every time we try to get him to say, “Grampa.” They are both getting so big, and someday soon they probably will learn to say it more formally – and that will be a sad rite of passage for me.

We talk back and forth as we catch up, and then before we hang up, we all do “Heart Hands” at each other and say our ‘Love You’s’ and I’ve gotten my Grands fix for another night.

I sure ‘with’ we could see them more often!
