I have several projects that I’ve had on hold, and this week I am trying to finish some of them.
I finally finished a macrame project last night, that I started this summer, from the wood that came from the large white oak tree that we cut down in our front yard. A half round piece became the base of this project and I encountered challenges almost every step of the way, from cutting such a large piece in half, filling the cracks, getting the sanding down, drilling the holes, more sanding, staining both the wood and the string since the string was such a stark white, and of course more sanding before the clear coats, sanding between layers to get that smooth finish. And let’s address the fact I had no beads, nor could I find any, but I had an old necklace that I didn’t use any longer, so I used them. I drilled the holes bigger to fit the string. Oh, and did I mention that I didn’t know how to tie macrame knots? Learned a few things there too. But last night I finished it and feel really good about my first attempt.
Now I have to figure out what I’m going to do with the rest of the wood rounds that I have.
I think I’ll make a clock.
