There’s a year-long project I’m going to start on January 1st. When the idea originally came to me, it was in the form of a knitting or crocheting project, but since I don’t do either of them well, I decided to modify it and do it as a piece of unique wall art instead.
Here’s how I am setting it up:
Our temperatures range from below zero to 110 degrees here in Duncan, Oklahoma. This means I will need the following yarn colors to signify their respective temperatures:
Below zero – white
0 – 9 degrees – cream
10 – 19 degrees – light blue
20 – 29 degrees – aqua
30 – 39 degrees – green
40 – 49 degrees – blue
50 – 59 degrees – violet
60 – 69 degrees – yellow
70 – 79 degrees – orange
80 – 89 degrees – pink
90 – 99 degrees – red
100 – 109 degrees – tan
109 – plus – brown
I will use one of these colors of yarns each day which will reflect the color of the day’s highest temperature at our home. I’ll weave it into my wall art and will use a strand of black yarn to separate the months. By the end of 2024, I’ll have wall art as a historical marker for our weather.
But first I need a branch which will come from the tree in our backyard. Hubbin will take care of that part, tomorrow so it has sufficient time to dry before January 1st.
I’ll post occasional pictures as I work it.
