I have so many devices that can help me keep track of time, but I recently purchased a little blue kitchen timer for this very reason. It quietly counts down the time I’ve set for myself for unpleasant tasks as well as nudges me with a gentle reminder of upcoming ones once the current countdown is over.
Today it is lying on its side, almost buried amid a scattered mess of clutter – unopened mail, receipts, story note reminders, and the weekly grocery coupons and ads that cover my desk. Perhaps I’ll unearth “Lil Blue” and set it for fifteen minutes to tackle the unpleasantness of the everyday mundaneness that comes with going through and filing or tossing all this stuff.
One’s gotta start somewhere, I guess. *sigh*
