I can write fiction about almost anything. Many times, it is my imagination running rampant and today I question why that is. I wonder if everyone’s thought process are like mine?
I can be making a beeline for the kitchen for another cup of coffee and see a shadow in my back yard. That will take me there.
Or my tablet will spazz and a conspiracy theory develops.
Give me an object, ANY object, and I can give you the 4-1-1 on the previous owner and how it ended up here, in your hands and mine.
It is so common for me to do this that one of my friends started a repurposing furniture business and asked me to create a brief index card, “History” behind the object, purely for entertainment purposes. I’ve also written Christmas stories for my grands and for my friends’ kids.
But recently I’be been trying to finish up a novel I started about three years ago, before the move from Nevada to Oklahoma put it on a back burner, but now I find those random thoughts jump to the forefront while I’m working on this one, causing my story to drift away. I’ve opened a new “Story Starts” document to add these random ideas, so I’m not off and running on a tangent that has nothing to do with my current project, and that has helped so much with the process, but I am circling back to my original question. Does everyone think like I do and create random story starts out of the air they breathe, while on their way to their coffee pots?
