Even in triple digit weather, sometimes I feel the need to take on a task; today was one of those days. I hit the back yard about 11:30 this morning, but first things first, the necessities: a summertime, big, floppy hat, music via headphones; stout, leather gloves; and an N-95 mask (because yes, I’m allergic to most everything in my back yard). I got the hedge trimmer running and whaled away at the two crepe myrtles that were taller than the fence line, took the loppers to the two trees whose branches I kept running into, and then raked everything up into the garbage can. I just flopped that huge thing on its side and raked everything into it, then with great effort, stood it back up and viola, Two…Hours…Later (said in my best SpongeBob voice), the yard is now done for another few weeks. I’m sad that I had to cut back on the flowers so much, but I needed fence line sight for my own safety and peace of mind, and everything looks cleaner this afternoon. I’ve got some weeding to do, but I’ll save that for another day, perhaps after it’s rained, so they will be easier to pull. I also want to say that I used electric hedge trimmers for the first time, and it sure made this a much easier task than using loppers and hand trimmers, and as an added bonus, my hands are thanking me for the assistance; they aren’t cramping on me!
