Hubbin and I spent a bit of time in our bunker this afternoon because of the hail and the Duncan warning siren blaring. Yes, we have a bunker for a storm/tornado shelter. Something like it was in the top five requirements of home ownership for me to move to the Midwest/South, and I’m mighty glad we have it and quite thankful we don’t have to use it often.
It was interesting to see the number of people that headed down this dead-end street to join their loved ones in their families’ storm shelters. The news proclaimed the storm to directly hit Duncan – we went into our bunker and realized that after this is over, we want to purchase some additional items for it. Fans to circulate the air inside, battery operated ones. A small table or fold-up TV tray. Battery-operated lanterns. Maybe a weather radio, but for now, the storm has blown past us, as if we have a forbidden-to-enter circle over our town. We’ll go out to our patio to watch the rest of the storm pass.
